The Easy Watch Order Guide On How To Watch Chain Chronicle Anime

Where Did The Chain Chronicle Come From?

Chain Chronicle is the anime adaptation of the mobile RPG game of the same name. The game was originally released in 2013 for IOS and Android phones.

There was even an option to play the game on PlayStation, which was released in July 2014. There were two versions of this game. The first version was called Chain Chronicle V and released globally in December 2014.

While the second version of the game was released in October 2015 and was called Chain Chronicle: Brave New Continent. In December 215, a Climax Chapter was released and then a sequel chapter called Chain Chronicle 3, which was released November 2016.

However in the end the game was shut down globally after that.

Following the success of the game, a manga adaptation was created called Chain Chronicle Crimson, which was illustrated and written by Junpei Okazaki. It was published in  Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine from July 2014 and ended in August 2015.

What Is Chain Chronicle About?

Plot

The story is set in a place called Yuguto, which is a large place that has been divided into smaller kingdoms, all who have their own kings.

All the lands are at peace, there may be minor disagreements but all the king’s frequently gather together and hold meetings about keeping the peace between their kingdoms.

Yet a dark army appears and this threatens the peace of the kingdoms. The Dark Army defeats the volunteer arm and takes away half of the most sacred book, known as the Chronicle.

The Chronicle is the most important book in this world, as it contains the history of mankind. The Volunteer Army  go on a journey where they train and gain more allies to defeat the Dark King and get the other half of the Chronicle back.

Characters

A lot of people have claimed that this is what Lord of the Rings would look like if it was an anime. The Chain Chronicles follow multiple characters, which makes for a very interesting story.

Yuri is seen as the main protagonist that we follow. He is the leader of the Volunteer Army and must protect Phoena from the Black Army. He is curious about the book she is carrying, as it is in the most important book in the world.

We also face The Black Knight, who was once Yuri, but he is from either the future or another reality. However, wherever he is from, he faced the same problem as Yuri is facing now with the Black King trying to take over the world.

Although, in the Black Knight’s world, Yugi’s friends Pirika and Phoena died, which then led Yuri to go to the dark side.

Phoena is the main heroine of this story. She is a mysterious girl who carries the Chronicle, she has amnesia as she cannot remember who she is when she is attacked by the Black Army, until Yuri saves her.

Pirika is an Eld Aprite who is Yuri and Phoena’s guide, while they try to complete their quests. She saved Yuri when he was first chosen to form the Volunteer Army. She is always by Yuri’s or Phoena’s side, ready to help and protect them at all costs.

Chain Chronicle: TV Series

In 2017, Chain Chronicle: The Light of Haecceitas was released. There are 12 episodes in total in this season which aired between January 2017 to March 2017. There has only ever been one season of this show.

However, since it has been so long since the first season was released we aren’t too sure that there will be a second season.

While the plot was strong, from the reception some fans wanted

Chain Chronicle: Films

Chain Chronicle

If you were hoping for new content from Chain Chronicle, I’m sorry to disappoint you. Three movies have been released but the contents of the films are exactly the same as the first season of the show. The films are:

  • Chain Chronicle: The Light of Haecceitas Part 1
  • Chain Chronicle: The Light of Haecceitas Part 2
  • Chain Chronicle: The Light of Haecceitas Part 3

There are no real notable differences between the tv series and the films. Each film is 5 episodes of the tv series. Therefore Part 1 covers episodes 1 to 4.

While Part 2 covers episodes 5 to 8 and Part 3 uses episodes 9 to 12. As a result, this makes each film just over an hour long.

The only real difference between the tv series and the films, is that the tv series has an opening and ending theme. Alothug, other than that there isn’t much to differentiate between them both.

Therefore, for someone who is new to the Chain Chronicles series, it would be easier for them to watch the films than the tv series. However, if you watch one, you don’t really need to watch the other.

So, it is your choice if you want to watch the films or the tv series.

Chain Chronicle: OVS

Before the tv series, a short animation was released in 2014. This is now seen as an OVA for the series. It was the first thing produced for the series and looks very quickly put together. It is based heavily on mobile games.

Some fans like watching it to see where the series started, however if you don’t want to watch it, that’s not the end of the world.

Final Thoughts

It feels as if the Chain Chronicle has never got going. The series is always praised for its detailed imagery and the music is powerful.

Fans loved its beauty and yet so much time has passed that we can now assume we won’t get any new Chain Chronicle content again. Unless someone decides to revive the series once more.

To be honest it doesn’t really matter which order you decide to watch Chain Chronicle, whether that is chronically or release order. This is because both orders are pretty much exactly the same.

Alongside this, the list is really quite short, considering both the films and the tv series are exactly the same. Really, it’s up to you whether you want to watch the tv series or the films.
